We understand that serious illness doesn’t wait for a convenient time to strike.
That’s why we offer same-day urgent care and walk-in appointments six days a week.
When we say “urgent care,” we’re distinguishing between a worrisome development in your pet’s health and something that might actually be life-threatening. In the latter case, we recommend you take your best friend to a clinic specializing in emergency care without delay.

As a pet owner, it’s important to understand what options are available near you so you’re prepared should your dog or cat need help. Pets need emergency care for any condition that is life threatening. Urgent care is for when your pet has an issue that is not life-threatening, but still shouldn’t wait to be seen by a vet.
Regular Visit

- Runny nose/sneezing
- Coughing but able to breathe
- Vomiting / diarrhea up to 2xs per hour, but acting ok
- Itchy ears, skin
- Butt scooting
- Limping but not in constant pain
- Hot spots
- Broken nail
Urgent Care

- Frequent vomiting/diarrhea with change in behavior
- Eye irritation / redness / discharge / squinting
- Blood in urine or stool
- Non-bleeding wounds and injuries
- Difficulty walking
- Allergic reactions
- Tick bites / disease
- Ingestion of foreign body / poisonous substance
- Straining or unable to urinate / defecate
Critical Emergency

- Serious injury/trauma
- Ingestion of foreign body/poisonous substance
- Choking / can’t breathe
- Collapse or unconsciousness
- Pale gums
- Broken bone
- Bloating/retching/unproductive vomiting
- Straining or unable to urinate/defecate
- Seizures
It’s important to note that at Irving Pet Hospital, we have the ability to treat most illnesses, injuries, or conditions. However, depending on when you call and the degree of specialized treatment your pet may require, we may refer you to a local 24-hour emergency or specialty hospital that is better prepared to meet your pet’s needs. Due to demand, wait times may be longer than expected. It is impossible for us to provide accurate wait times and patients are seen by most critical in nature first. For convenience we offer the option to drop off your pet. A $500 deposit is required for drop-offs. We appreciate your patience while we work hard to support our local Emergency and Trauma Centers.
